The process

How it works

From your idea to a frame on the wall — here's exactly what happens, whichever path fits your journey.

Nothing is printed before you approve it
Revisions
Two rounds, free of charge
Order to door
Roughly one to two weeks

Standard sizes

The Start, The Story, The Monument, The Tribute

Five steps, from the product page to the wall.

  1. Choose your artifact

Pick your size on the product page. Choose your frame color and depth.

  2. Tell us everything on the product page

Right there on the product page, you'll fill in your race name, date, location, distance, elevation, pace, and finish time. Choose your route color and terrain color — the palette shown covers our most popular choices, but any color is possible; just tell us what you have in mind in the notes field. Choose whether you'd like roads shown or left out. Add the link for your hidden NFC tag — a Strava activity, an Instagram post, or anywhere else you'd like it to lead. Then upload your GPX file.

No GPX file handy? Most platforms — Strava, Garmin, Komoot — let you export one from any activity in a couple of clicks. Stuck, or not sure which colors to pick? Email us at info@milezero.art and we'll help.

  3. We build your model

We turn your GPX file into a real 3D terrain model — not just a flat line, but the actual climbs and descents your route crossed. Then we send you a digital proof: a preview of exactly what will be printed, in your chosen colors.

Not quite right? You get two rounds of revisions, free, until it looks the way it should.

  4. We print and assemble, by hand

Once you approve the proof, we print your route in raised relief, print the background poster with your details, and assemble everything into your frame — by hand, one at a time.

  5. It ships to you

Your finished artifact ships carefully packed, ready to hang. If your frame has room for a medal, it arrives with an easy way to fit it in yourself — no need to send anything ahead.

From order to delivery, plan on roughly one to two weeks, depending on how quickly the proof gets approved.

Custom map

For journeys that don't fit a standard size

  1. Tell us your idea

Reach out at info@milezero.art with what you have in mind — the route, the story, roughly what you're picturing. Multi-day hikes, trips across borders, multiple routes in one design — whatever it is, start here.

  2. We work it out together

We'll talk through what's possible and quote you a price based on the design itself — size, materials, and the number of routes involved. No two Custom Map designs are priced the same, because no two are the same.

  3. From there, the same care

Once we've agreed on the details, the process runs the same as everything else we make: a digital proof before anything is printed, revisions until it's right, and a frame built by hand.

Questions along the way?

Reach out any time at info@milezero.art. Send me the route, and I'll show you the frame before anything is made final.
